Livable Memphis

Livable Memphis, a key player in 2010’s A New Face for an Old Broad “better block” project, partnered with the City of Memphis in 2013 to secure a U.S. EPA grant to deliver two new MEMFix events. Livable Memphis’ first endeavor with the City was South MEMFix, in partnership with the Mayor’sĀ Innovation Delivery Team. The organization is now leading the coordination of MEMFix: Edge District in October 2014, in partnership with the City and Edge District stakeholders.

Livable Memphis’ role in delivering MEMFix is to facilitate residents, business owners, and other neighborhood stakeholders in realizing their vision for the future of their streets and public spaces. As part of the 2013 EPA grant, Livable Memphis will develop a “how-to” guide for neighborhoods to put on their own MEMFix-style tactical urbanism events.

Livable Memphis is a program of the Community Development Council of Greater Memphis.

City Partners

While MEMFix is intended to help neighborhoods visualize what is possible it also helps local government by providing an opportunity to test new and innovative ideas about infrastructure, develop neighborhood economic development strategies and to generally prototype new ways to deliver services and build social capital within the Community. The following divisions and departments of City of Memphis Government have all contributed to MEMFix events.

  • Division of City Engineering
  • Division of Public Works
  • Division of General Services
  • Police Services
  • Fire Services
  • Memphis Area Transit Authority
